Introducing Toussaint St. Negritude
BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1959, bass clarinetist, poet, composer Toussaint St. Negritude is a Philadelphia based artist, by way of Haiti, San Francisco, Savannah, Harlem, and all the very beautiful Black abodes that inform his journey. With a lifetime of improvisation, Toussaint St. Negritude is a self-taught surrealist interpreter of trans-tonal lessons, hearalding the teachings of his muse. "The beautiful thing about jazz and poetry is that improvisation becomes the pulpit of the spirit, the portal to worlds beyond worlds of life," says the poet, bass clarinetist. Keeping his bags on the globe, St. Negritude continues to jazz-climb this bopsophonous path towards his muse, leading him with bass clarinet and typewriter in hand to the utmost reaches of freedom.
